This is online tap dance charity campaign #tapforukraine to support Ukraine and Ukrainian tap dancers during this wartime. We would be very grateful if you joined this campaign and showed your support to Ukraine with a dance besides other actions.
If you want to participate, please prepare a video consisting of:
- Short intro with a wish, words of wisdom, or anything else you want to say to Ukraine and their people, tap dancers, and others.
- Tap dance video (any level).
Send the video to: tapforukraine@gmail.com
All videos will be published on tapforukraine.com and @tapforukraine social media channels with a request to donate money to the National Bank of Ukraine fundraising account for humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians affected by Russia’s aggression.
Please send in your video, so it can be uploaded on the website when it goes live one by one.
We want to reach as many tap dance communities and tap dancers as possible so if you know someone who would be interested, don’t hesitate to invite them to join!
Why are we doing this and why join?
We are Latvian tap dance community (Soultap.lv, Toptap.lv, and others) and we are creating an this charity campaign #tapforukraine to support Ukraine and Ukrainian tap dancers during this wartime.
One of the tap dance founders in Latvia, Maris Puris, has made many connections during his tap career and one of these connections is Volodymyr Shpudeiko, an amazing Ukrainian tap dancer. They still keep in touch even now when Volodymyr is not tap dancing and doing what he loves, but living in entrenchments guarding his country.
Tap dancers or not, people in Ukraine need to know that they have support outside their country's borders. That the world hasn’t forgotten them. That they are still significant as people and as a nation. And besides humane help and military help, they also need emotional support. And today we are here for that.
With this charity campaign, we are hoping to give Ukrainian people a small break from their suffering, a feeling of a strong community, and unity with the World. As well as hopefully raise some money that can be donated to help Ukrainians in need.
